Over The Top Rating
VFR Over-The-Top Rating entitles you to enjoy a stunning and unparalleled vista when you fly above a solid layer of cloud in visual conditions. You then arrive at your destination to land in good weather conditions as forecast.
The rating requires a minimum of 15 hours dual training of which a maximum may be 5 hours instrument/ground (simulator) time. A Private Pilot Licence or higher is a prerequisite for a VFR Over The-Top Rating.
Students who obtain Commercial Pilot Licence are automatically entitled to exercise the privileges of this rating.
Flight instruction is given in a Cessna 152, Cessna 172P or on our newer Cessna 172R model. One of our staff or instructors will be happy to give you more details on both the flight training and the study material.
Training costs reflect Transport Canada minimum training times and the program follows Canadian Aviation Regulation guidelines. There are no membership fees at Montair. Further information on Transport Canada licensing and experience requirements can be found on the relevant section of the Canadian Aviation Regulations, available online here.
