Class I or II Flight Instructors

Currently looking to hire a full time Class I or II Flight Instructor for our Main Base of operation at the Pitt Meadows Airport, to act as a Check Instructor on our Integrated ATPL program as per CAR 426.22.3 for both single and multi-engine flight training. As a check instructor you will ensure the overall standard of flight training meets the company requirements. This will be done by conducting phase tests, flight test qualification rides and supervisory progress check rides.

Responsible for assisting the Chief Flight Instructor with:

  • Monitoring the flight training operation to ensure the standard of training meets the company requirements and identifying the need for extra training or changes in operational procedures.
  • Developing and implement instructing and piloting techniques which flight instructors will be expected to comply with during flight training operations.
  • Conducting progress review flights.
  • Conducting phase tests required by the Training Manual.
  • Conducting ground school.
  • Supervising the standard of practices and recommending amendments to aeroplane operating checklists and standard operating procedures.
  • Monitoring staff flight instructor flight test records and address areas of poor student performance.
  • Evaluating ground instructors.
  • Performing other related responsibilities assigned by the Chief Flight Instructor.
  • Valid Class II or I Flight Instructor Rating
  • Valid Group I Instrument Rating (preferred)
  • 200 hours multi-engine time with experience instructing multi ratings and IFR (preferred)
  • Experience in conducting ground school (preferred)
  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada

Pay rates for a Class 2 are $42.00 per hour if the instructor completes more than 40 hours of flight time per month. Senior Class 2 instructors and all Class 1 instructors are salaried positions, remuneration will be negotiated individually, dependent on experience.

CARs responsibilities

  • Legally able to work in Canada
  • Valid Canadian Flight Instructor Rating
  • Satisfactory Flight Test Record
  • Experience with instructing on an Integrated Program (an asset but not required)
  • Valid Group I Instrument Rating (an asset but not required)
  • 200 hours multi-engine time with experience instructing multi ratings and IFR (an asset but not required)
  • Experience in conducting ground school (preferred but not required)

Class 4 instructors can earn up to $25 – $37 per hour based on flight hour bonus criteria, which are intended to be highly achievable

Class 3 instructors can earn up to $28 -$40 per hour based on flight hour bonus criteria, which are intended to be highly achievable

Multi-Engine Flight Instructors

Currently looking to hire a full time Multi & IFR Flight Instructor for our main base of operation at the Pitt Meadows Airport,

Responsible for assisting the Chief Flight Instructor with:

• Duties of Flight Instructor performed in classroom and training airplanes
• Outdoors, on the flight line and ramp
• Lifting at least 50 pounds or more
• Bending, stooping, climbing
• May include working on back and/or confined spaces
• Exposure to a wide variety of environmental conditions including heat, cold, wind, and precipitation
• Congested/active ramp environment with multiple aircraft

• at least 500 hours flight time as pilot-in-command;
• at least 50 hours flight time in the applicable class of aeroplane;
• within the preceding 12 months, flown at least 10 hours as pilot-in-command on the applicable class of aeroplane;
• meet Montair’s staff training requirements;
• have received an appointment letter from the CFI confirming that all initial training has been completed;
• a valid instrument rating for the group of aircraft to be flown while conducting training;
• at least 3 successful flight test recommendations or an ATPL.
• Must be entitled to work in Canada

Finance Manager

As our Finance Manager at Montair Aviation you will support our long term strategic and business planning processes. You will work to create and evaluate capital investment plans and strategies that align with Montair’s business objectives.

  • Oversee the operational budgeting and forecasting processes and provide complete and accurate financial information to the Executives and Board Members
  • Be able to analyze financial data in order to prepare draft departmental budget reports and present to the Department Heads.
  • Work with the Executives to ensure accurate analysis of monthly and annual financial operating statements reporting (including variance and trend analysis) to the Executive Director and the Board Members
  • Oversee all accounting functions including maintenance of the general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable and payroll, including timesheet verification
  • Develop, implement, and ensure compliance with internal financial and accounting policies, procedures and controls for cash management, accounts payable, accounts receivable, credit control, and petty cash
  • Oversee the management of all leases, contracts and other financial commitments with vendors, partners, etc.
  • Responsible for customs clearance
  • Manage and oversee Montair’s financial and accounting systems maintaining full and accurate accounting records with effective record retention of accounting documents
  • Organize current expense tracking, coding and allocations in order to provide meaningful data to department heads and Board members
  • Manage and oversee the acquisition of capital assets and ensure that assets are properly secured, recorded, remunerated, and disposed of as appropriate
  • Ensure that all statutory filings are timely and accurate i.e. payroll source deductions and other payroll related remittances
  • Responsible for preparation of tuition tax reports
  • Bank reconciliation on Montair and affiliated companies bank account
  • Reconcile intercompany accounts
  • Ensure expense reports are approved by the Department Head
  • Verify and approve time sheets and time clock entries to present to payroll (semi-monthly)
  • Prepare the TD1 for all companies.
  • Be able to oversee multi companies accounting records.
  • Manage petty cash
  • Ensure coding of A/P invoices to proper department
  • Work with the Executive Director and the Executives in Montair’s strategic and financial planning
  • Identify and monitor financial trends that support or hinder our strategic directions
  • Work with the Executives in the development and presentation of the annual operating budget for the Board of Directors with robust and independent analysis of the budget in order to help the Board in making an informed decision
  • Participate in Board Meetings
  • Assist the Executives with financial reporting as required for Board Meetings
  • Negotiate with Bank for lines of credit or other financial services as required and appropriate
  • CPA required
  • 5 years financial management experience including budget preparation, financial forecasts and financial reporting
  • Previous experience in a business development or management consulting role is considered an asset
  • Extremely proficient in all modules of Simply Accounting
  • Strategic thinker with superior analytical skills and problem solving abilities
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing
  • Ability to balance multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment with multi locations

Junior Executive Assistant

Assist the Director of Flight Operations and departmental employees in a variety of assigned day-to-day administrative and clerical tasks, including calendar management

  • Monitor incoming emails and phone calls and prioritize as required
  • Liaise with external vendors and suppliers on behalf of the Director of Flight Operations
  • Provide contact point between flight operations team and other departments
  • Arrange and prepare for both internal and external meetings and ensure that attendees are ready and informed
  • Prepare meeting minutes, action items and track established deadlines
  • Prepare a variety of reports
  • Assist with the preparation of PowerPoint presentations
  • Coordinate executive travel bookings and out-of-office plans
  • Draft and proof-read manuals and documents
  • Letter, email and memo preparation
  • Sort and distribute incoming mail and email
  • Conduct required research on new company projects and assist the Director of Flight Operations with the tracking of these projects once implemented
